About Heather...

My full name is Heather McGlaughlin Batey. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Harding University and a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Mississippi.

 

I've been teaching since 1997 in both the private studio and the public school classroom. I also hold a K-12 teaching certificate in both vocal and instrumental music education.

 

Currently, I am an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Montevallo where I teach voice and music appreciation.

Lee Scott Singers
Since 2000, I've been a member of K. Lee Scott's exclusive choir. I've been a frequent soloist at the annual concerts of his works at Beeson Chapel at Samford University.

Opera and theater performance experience

I was a chorus member in Opera Birmingham's productions of Orfeo, Madama Butterfly, Carmen, La Traviata, The Magic Flute, Lucia di Lammermoor, and Aida during 1998-2007.

 

I performed “Prima Donna” as Carlotta (♫ Sing, prima donna, once more! ♫) from Phantom of the Opera in A South City Cabaret at South City Theatre in Alabaster in August 2005.

 

Lately, starting in 2007, I've been a featured performer ("Lady Fiona") singing at the Alabama Renaissance Feast and the Alabama Renaissance Faire which are held in late October in Florence, AL.
