PolicyOK, this is the serious page where I go over what happens with missed lessons, payments, and causes for termination.
Youth Students and Adult StudentsIn general, the parent speaks for their child student and the parent is who I’m going to talk with outside of a lesson. As a guideline, when a student can drive himself or herself to the lesson, I consider them an adult student for non-financial matters. When such a student is also paying for their lessons with me, I consider them an adult student for financial matters also.
Lessons
Instructor UnavailabilityIf I have to miss a lesson for any reason, I will give you as much advance notice as I can and we will schedule a make-up lesson.
Swapping Lesson TimesWith the permission of each student, I will distribute the teaching schedule with the contact information for each student. If you have a schedule conflict, it may be possible to swap the time with another student. Both students need to contact me to confirm the swap and this should happen AT LEAST 24 hours before the lesson.
Excused Absences and Make-Up LessonsIf you cannot be at a lesson, let me know AT LEAST 24 hours before. I generally excuse an absence for any of the following – family emergency, serious illness (especially if someone’s contagious), dangerous weather, or unavoidable traffic delay. My standard limit is two make-up lessons per student per term.
Missed LessonsI do not give refunds or discounts for missed lessons.
Fees and PaymentFor the Spring and Fall terms, there’s a $100 materials fee that’s non-refundable. This is to help pay for the things listed under “What I Provide” on the Lessons page.
Tuition (the instruction fee) is for a term of 16 lessons (8 for the summer term), which you may pay me in monthly installments. This is due at the end of the previous month. For example, tuition for the month of May is due to me on April 30.
If I haven’t received your payment on time, I charge a $15 late fee. If this happens too many times, I will terminate our agreement. Please pay on time!
In addition, I charge $45 for a returned check. Please make sure that your check will clear!
TerminationJust causes include, but are not limited to, the following:
If a student stops coming to lessons during a term or I terminate our agreement for a just cause as noted above, the unpaid tuition for the remainder of the term is still due.
